Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms involve lower urinary tract issues caused by an enlarged prostate pressing on the urethra, commonly including a weak urine stream, hesitancy, increased frequency (especially at night), urgency, and incomplete bladder emptying. Symptoms tend to worsen slowly, with complications potentially leading to infections, urinary retention, or bladder stones.

Common Symptoms of BPH (LUTS)

    • Weak or slow stream: Urine flow is not strong or consistent.
    • Hesitancy: Trouble starting the flow of urine.
    • Intermittency:
       Stream stops and starts frequently.
    • Frequency: Needing to urinate often, usually every 1 to 2 hours.
    • Nocturia: Waking up multiple times during the night to urinate.
    • Urgency: A sudden, strong need to urinate.
    • Incomplete emptying: Feeling that the bladder is still full after peeing.
    • Dribbling: Leaking of urine, especially after finishing.
